This was my second year for running this race and also the second year it rained during the day and cooled the temps enough to be ABLE to run the race. We had some highs in the 90s the week leading up (and even after) the race...so I was VERY happy for the 78*, overcast day.
Asked the hubby to come along with me this time (hoping to inspire him to get back into running as well - we can hope) A nice turnout number wise for the race (around 750 participants) and it was also a NC qualifier race....so basically whomever came in first wins that NC title....not for sure how that works.
No improvement from my time last year (around 37 minutes, this year 38+) but my first mile was completed in 12:02. So I was happy about that. Afterwards was treated to some pizza - I rarely feel guilty for eating bad after a race.
Let's hope I can be lucky again next year and it will be a cool day - otherwise (even though it IS an evening race) I doubt I could really "beat the heat" :)
