My only side affect from the long distance was one sore muscle in my right leg....and I don't think it would have been bothering me so much, it was the airplane ride that did it :)

Longest Distance To Date
Last week on Tuesday I decided I wanted to get out for a nice, slow, distance run (since I was going on vacation to Florida and knew I would not be running while I was there) My running partner joined me and we ended up completing 8 miles, with about 3 of those miles walking. It was a good test for my system to see what I need to do as far as hydration and food - it seems a little bit more difficult to gauge right now after being diagnosed diabetic. I have my first 10K in October and luckily I have a follow up visit with my doctor and nutritionist before then, so I'm hoping to get a few more tips on what I should/should not intake for a longer run. It's really gonna hit hard when I finally do a half marathon next year, but hopefully by then I have my sugar levels under control and I might not have to worry so much.
