Running of the Green 5K

It felt like it had been awhile since I actually participated in a race (my last race was April 10th) so I was really excited for today.
I woke up with my lower back hurting more than usual. Generally not a good sign. The temps were perfect as it was overcast and the rain was just looming in the distance. Luckily it held off for the race (and has since only sprinkled a little bit)
I had to do more stretching than normal to get my lower back loosened up before the race began.
I had been working more on distance during this week so was hoping that overall, it would help me get through this 5K quicker. I started off at a very quick pace for me for the first 1.5 miles (I believe I actually accomplished a 10 minute mile) After that I settled into my usual pace (pretty slow, generally a 13 minute mile) and was surprised to see the time on the clock as I passed the finish line read 36:04. This is my fastest run to date, the previous being around the 37 minute mark back in November.
